General obedience – One to One coaching or Small group training based around your specific requirements. Covering subjects such as loose lead walking, re-call, emergency stop, stay and wait commands, general control, control at home  as examples. Integrating a rescue / rehomed dog into new home – We recognise that integrating a young or adult dog into a new home can sometimes bring challenges and stresses. Getting the foundations in place early and having a strategy to deal with the integration or any behavioural issues will make all the difference in the long term. Working with reactive dogs – Dogs react to other dogs or people for a variety of reasons and owning a reactive dog can be challenging, stressful and sometimes lonely. Our One to One coaching programme will strive to give you methods, controls and techniques that can help you modify your dogs behaviour (if it is possible) and manage situations in a calm, stress free manner. Above all, you can work with people who understand the challenges you are facing. NOTE: Although I am working towards my qualifications, I am not currently a qualified Dog Behaviourist. Therefore, after initial assessment, should I feel that the challenge I have is beyond my knowledge, experience or skill level, I will explain this as such and work with you to find the right person to help you.

Services we offer:
We all strive to have the perfect dog, one that’s on best behaviour at all times and never puts a paw wrong. Of course, this dog does not exist, however, we can strive to have the best dog we can have and create a wonderful partnership and bond with them. Sometimes though, that partnership and bond is challenged, when we just can not get our dog to do what we want it to do OR to stop doing what we don’t want it to do. We get frustrated, the dog gets stressed and we end up with a strained relationship. I know this can cause heartache, social challenges (like we can’t sit in the beer garden with our dog!) and even a feeling of isolation with our dog. So what do you do. Get in touch! That is exactly the challenge we like to support. I have a life time of experience working with dogs, including the training of my own, supporting training classes and working in dog rescue, I have worked with dogs that are fearful, placid and challenging.  I have undertaken various training courses and workshops, read umpteen books, watched hours of Dog training DVD’s and You Tube, so I do have a substantial underpinning knowledge and experience, however, I also have 28 years of business coaching and mentoring experience that equips me to help YOU to find a way forward to achieve YOUR objectives with YOUR dog. We will work in partnership to achieve the result that we agree together. All the methods we use are based around Positive Reinforcement, Operant and Classical Conditioning and learning games and exercises. It is vital that when we work together, it is a positive, fun and challenging experience for all three partners, You, your dog and me!

Can we help you?

One to One Coaching

Working with you and your dog on a specific challenge(s). We will conduct an initial assessment, agree what outcomes we are striving for and set up a training programme to work to. Of course, you will have your homework to do and we will assess progress throughout to maintain progress.

Small Group Training Sessions

In some cases it can benefit the partnership to work in small groups as apposed to one to one. These groups will always be tailored to fit the specific needs of each handler / dog team. The maximum number of dogs in any group will be 4. Entry to a Small Group Session will only be agreed after an initial assessment has been completed.

We train Your Dog (then you)

In this hectic modern world we all recognise how precious time can be. Therefore, as an alternative to dog walking or Doggy play day sessions we can undertake One to One training with your dog on your behalf. These sessions will only be undertaken after an initial assessment has been completed. We will also need to  conduct regular “hand over and assessment” sessions with both you and your dog to ensure that the achievements are being carried forward into the home environment.

Specialist Workshops

At regular intervals throughout the year, we will be arranging Specialist Workshops looking at specific areas of dog training and behaviour. These workshops may be run by guest speakers / trainers and at different local venues. Subjects will include:   Understanding Dog Body        Language (talk dog)   Dog First Aid   Managing a Reactive Dog   Basic Agility   Introduction to Scent Work   Introduction to Tracking   Introduction to Working Trials   Introduction to IPO For availability of these  workshops please email us at: info@doggywalksnplay.co.uk

I have heard it said, that a really good dog does not create a good dog handler, in fact, until you have a more challenging dog to work with, you will not learn much more. I can personally vouch for this, having trained German Shepheard’s for over 30 years, my latest one is a handful, and has developed my skills more in two years than the rest put together. Therefore, when we are given a challenging dog to work with, we should celebrate the opportunity to learn!
